Breathe IT
BY Connor Steffens UX Design and Research
Excutive summary
Breathe IT focuses on holistic wellness through its flagship app, Ultopia AI. The app tracks seven dimensions of life to provide users with tailored growth insights. I also worked on their SaaS enterprise product, which transforms individual wellness data into high-level organizational insights, helping businesses better support their workforce. Here I worked on the engineer team as a UX designer
Goals
-App Refresh
-SAAS Platform Redesign
-Logo update
-Miscellaneous Startup Tasks
Ultopia AI app Redesign
This was what the looked like when I joined of the team. One of the first things they wanted me to focus on was the tile images
One feature I enjoyed creating was a weekly report. It would give the user insights on all of there scores and how they could improve.

Well I came up with some other ideas I personally liked better the team landed on this iteration.
I utilized AI for the Tile Images and edited them to get them exactly how I wanted
There were many things I wanted to change but it wasn’t feasible in the current timeframe
Ultopia enterprise Redesign
This is Ultopia SAAS Product that was in desperate need of a Refresh and some added usability
The first change I made was to update the UI to more closely match the app
And after doing some research, I added features like notifications, employee search, filters, and a leaderboard
Logo Update /Design System
Creating the new logo was an iterative process, as the founder was still discovering what visual direction best represented the brand. I explored multiple concepts and variations, gathering feedback at each stage, before arriving at a tree-inspired “U” symbol. I also experimented with several color combinations to ensure the final logo felt cohesive, versatile, and aligned with BreatheIT’s wellness-focused identity.
This project required me to bridge the gap between engineering and UX design. When I joined the team, there was no design system in place, and it was not initially seen as a priority. After identifying inconsistencies in the product, I proposed and created a lightweight design system that the team could easily adopt, improving alignment, efficiency, and overall product consistency.
App update Rollout
I designed App Store images and a social media post/ad for Ultopia AI redesign. The App Store assets highlighted key features using simple layouts and minimal text, similarly the social media post was meant to to be sleek and eye catching. This work strengthened my ability to design specific marketing assets within brand and scope constraints.
miscellaneous
Presentation Design
Word Document Design
I designed a presentation and accompanying Word document used to communicate key product and business information to stakeholders. By applying clear hierarchy, concise visuals, and consistent branding, the materials helped present the product more clearly and professionally.
Startup Role
Startup Role
I am very thankful for my time at BreatheIT. Working in a startup environment meant wearing many different hats, approaching each day with a can-do attitude, and learning how to solve problems independently. I also gained a strong understanding of the importance of scope and feasibility, that while there may be many ideas for improvement, not everything is possible at once. This experience helped me develop practical decision-making skills and adaptability.
